Businesses ("employers") use Elance to find, hire and work with qualified professionals with specialized skills. Service professionals ("providers") use Elance to meet customers, produce quality work and get paid for doing what they do best.
How Elance Works for Employers
It's free for employers (sometimes called "buyers") to sign up on Elance. Once registered, employers can begin working with a provider in one of two ways.
1. Post your job or list the skills needed, while setting a timeline and a budget range. Providers will offer their services in the form of proposals. The employer then reviews the proposals, interacts with the prospective providers, and then awards the job to the provider of their choosing.
2. Browse the searchable network of providers, view portfolios and performance ratings from other elancers they have worked with. Once the employer has found providers with the skills they need, they can invite the providers to submit a proposal on their job.
